While on our Maine trip we knew we wanted to make the drive all the way to Acadia and explore. It’s not often you get to explore a national park during the fall time (especially for us florida folks), so we jumped at the opportunity.
I did a fair amount of planning to make the most of the day while we were there. I couldn’t wait to take photos and share them all with you, sadly, the fog had a completely different idea. We were able to check off one site on our list before it rolled in in full force and destroyed any hope of a gorgeous view.
Regardless of our unfortunate luck, I’m still going to share what we had planned to see so that you can make the most out of a day trip to Acadia!
Arrive early. If you plan to do the more popular routes and views, get. there. early. The parking at the popular spots fills up fast along with the line at the visitor center.
Start at the Visitor Center. Here you will need to get either a day pass, an annual pass, or you can get a annual pass that is good for all national parks in the united states. If you have any plans to visit any other national parks for the year this is definitely the better deal. You can buy your pass online; however, you will have to wait in line for the car sticker.
Once you’ve got your pass, hit the road! We decided to head up park loop road, which lead to us to a trail at Jordan Pond. We really wanted to see Cadillac mountain views; however the rain and fog had different ideas.
We were still able to get some amazing photos before the fog truly set in and obstructed the view, and I kinda like the major twilight vibes it ended up giving.
