Officially crossing another state off of my bucket list with my most recent trip to Maine. I fell completely in love with the adorable down of Kennebunkport, Maine. Kennebunk & Kennebunkport are the quintessential New England towns. The added charm of the fall foliage, pumpkin decorations, and crisp autumn air made this the perfect fall destination.
Kennebunk is just outside of Portland, where we were staying. We hit the woke up insanely early per usual, grabbed our pumpkin cream cold brews, and headed out. Here’s what we did:
Stop to take a photo at the famous Kennebunkport sign.
The sun was shining over the bridge so perfectly this early, and these photos are some of my favorites. The houses on the water are adorable, and gave me major “Hallmark movie Christmas vibes”.
If you’re looking for the Insta worthy shot, make sure to take the photo bright and early. The bridge is a high traffic area, making it impossible to snap this photo passer by free anytime after early morning.
Stroll through the town
Next we parked just a tiny bit outside of the Main street to walk around and look at the beautiful homes. We found the most beautiful tree in full fall bloom… or decay? Not sure what the proper description is of that one. I couldn’t pick just one favorite house, so I wrote an entire post dedicated to them that you can read here.
We also did a bit of touristy shopping while there by going in and out of the Kennebunk themed stores. My personal favorite was the store dedicated entirely to dogs. They had items for EVERY breed!
Sea Craft Vintage was another cool stop on our way. It is an adorable vintage antique shopped run by the queen of Kennebunk herself Jackie Greeney.
Visit the Pumpkin Patch….or Farms
We went the perfect time of year to see two absolutely adorable little farms clad with pumpkins and Fall Decor. The first one we stopped at was Wallingford Farm, and the second was Snug Harbor Farm. This one may actually be my favorite with the curb appeal (literally on the side of the road).
Walk the trail at Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge
This one is actually right along the way from Snug Harbor Farm. The loop is insanely easy (zero incline) and takes about 30-45 minutes to do the whole thing. The views are beautiful, and you’ll definitely see some adorable chipmunks roaming about. Dogs are also welcome, as long as kept on a leash.
Grab an Ice Cream at the famous Rococo Ice Cream
We were so fully from snacking all day, but we absolutely couldn’t resist a small scoop…. or two. This was one of my favorite treats of the trip, they’ll even let you combine flavors!
End the day with a Sunset Sail
I love a good sailboat ride. Add a sunset, and I’m in. We booked this the same day of, so we had to travel slightly out of Kennebunk for this experience. It ended up being one of the coolest experiences of our entire trip.
The other group on board was our age, and I even went to high school with one of the girls (small world?!). The two crew members were insanely knowledgeable of the area, whipped us up some hot coco, and even gave a live opera performance.
