I was going to label this a Savannah travel guide, but considering we were in the city less than 24 hours I didn’t feel confident claiming that. I did get some pretty beautiful shots and we did see some pretty cool places in our very short time there that I absolutely wanted to share.
The original inspiration behind this trip was my cousin Mali and I wanting to take a Taylor Swift binge listening road trip. The 6 hour drive to Savannah seemed like the perfect distance. I’m not sure if I have ever introduced Mali on my blog, but she is my cousin, best friend, personal photographer, partner in crime, definitely the cooler one, and also runs my Pinterest account.
We decided to splurge a bit and stay at a fancy inn one night. We ended up getting an amazing deal on the suite at the Justine Inn right in the heart of downtown Savannah. We had pretty low expectations going in, but wow were we surprised. When we got there we were told that no one else rented a room that night, so we had the entire Inn to ourselves. Once I got passed the initial panic of thinking this sounded exactly like the start of a B rated horror film, and decided we wouldn’t be murdered in our sleep, we ended up having an amazing night. We tossed on the plush robes, cracked open a bottle of wine, and danced around the entire inn.
The next morning I woke up with the sun, and filled the GIANT bathtub with piping hot water and bubbles and enjoyed the morning. Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, we had another surprise with a fresh cooked breakfast on the front courtyard overlooking Savannah. Tony, if you’re reading this, you are the best. I cannot recommend this Inn enough, the price was extremely reasonable for the experience!
Next we hit the road to spend what felt like the entire day walking. We strolled down Gaston Street to checkout Forsyth park, and see the iconic fountain and beautiful Spanish moss covered trees. The mansions along the parks border were so beautiful I had to control myself from snapping a photo of every single one.
We walked through graveyards, past the cathedral, and in and out of all of the little shops; including an adorable chocolate shop setup to look like a library!
After walking around for a bit, we headed towards the river, and stopped to grab a quick bite to eat at the Grove Rooftop. Roof top dining on vacation is for some reason one of my favorite things, and this little spot had the best view.
After we ate we decided to shop our way to the river front. We went in and out a bunch of different spots including the Paris Market. This shop is extremely eclectic, and full of unique antiques and knick knacks. They even had chocolates with pointers on them!
We then grabbed a coffee and headed to the River front. You have to walk down some pretty steep steps to get there, but the view is worth it. I know there are TONS of things to do in Savannah but this is all we had time for especially while trying to beat the rain.
Just in case it was not abundantly clear, we were EXTREMELY covid aware during this trip. We were tested before leaving, packed multiple masks, sanitizers, and wipes, stayed away from all crowded areas, and mainly stayed outside the entire trip. We went to one restaurant, which was outdoors with no other people around. I will be self quarantining for 2 weeks as well just to be safe. If you are not comfortable traveling yet, I completely respect that, and if you are, I ask that you please do it responsibly.
For those of you here for the outfits, I wore a an oversized emerald green blouse from the loft and some cut off bottom jeans (exact pair here) My headband is new from J.Crew this year. My shoes are a wardrobe staple in my closet. They are only $30 flats from Alfani, come in tons of colors, and have zero break in time!
