I label these travel guides but really they’re just recaps from my trips of all of the things we did and loved! I take planning pretty seriously. I spent hours scouring the internet and other blogs for the best spots in Nantucket, and then I made a plan.
I’ll probably write smaller posts about individual experiences or style while in Nantucket, but this will be a full recap of where we stayed, what we ate and what we did.
Day 1
We only technically had 3 days on the island and after about 6 hours of travel – plane ride- Uber ride – then a ferry ride we quickly checked into our B&B and hit the road. We stayed at the cutest little inn right off of main street!
There’s a few options to getting on the island. On the way there we actually flew into the Boston airport (Hyannis would have been more convenient but flights are limited right now). We then begrudgingly took a very expensive Uber to the ferry in Hyannis. We took the Hy line cruise. There are quite a few times for this one and it only take an hour to get to the island! On the way back we were lucky enough to catch a flight directly off of the island which was much easier on the way home. (Shoutout to Josh’s fiance Roberto for the amazing flight deals).
Depending on what you want to do on your trip will determine where you stay. Because we only had 3 short days on island, and no car we opted to stay in town. We stayed at a quaint little inn called the Barnacle Inn. The staff was extremely kind, and the location was PERFECT for exploring the town and walking distance to almost everything. They even offer complimentary breakfast every morning, but my favorite part was coming home every night to fresh baked cookies!
We quickly dropped our bags off and then hit the road – and by hit the road I mean we walked down the street into town. I shopped around and picked up the cutest sweater from Skinny Dip Nantucket to wear on our sailboat ride the next morning. Of course we took some blog photos as well with the gorgeous hydrangeas.
We finished the night at Galley Beach for dinner. This was my favorite night! The sunset from the beach is unreal, and we had the best time sipping wine and eating our meal. I definitely recommend reservations for this one and to bring a sweater as it can get a bit chilly on the water at night. We also learned the hard way that its impossible to find a taxi or uber at night on the island so we enjoyed our 30 minute walk home.
Day 2
We got an early start. Do not travel with me if you’re not ready to be absolutely exhausted and get up at the crack of dawn to make the most of the day (sorry josh). We grabbed breakfast at our hotel, and headed to the wharf to set sail.
We got so lucky and were able to split a private sailboat ride with two other groups of 2. This was such an awesome experience to sail around for a bit and snap a few pictures! Be warned that you will get a bit wet while sailing!
*Josh and I are just very good friends! Tragically we’re both into men*
After that we headed to juice bar for a lunch of champions: a double scoop on a fresh waffle cone. I was so excited to try the iconic ice cream spot and wow it was so worth the hype. The amazing smell of waffle cone alone is enough to have you heading back every day.
We quickly walked to the hotel, put on an extra layer of sunscreen, grabbed our beach towels and headed to surfside beach. Getting an uber on island can be a bit tricky but we definitely had better luck during the day. The beach was great, not too crowded, and had an adorable lifeguard stand.
A few hours later we had our fill of the sunshine and headed back ot the hotel to change for dinner. It was surprisingly chilly on our second night and we opted for a more casual meal at Or the Whale. The outside patio was adorable and the cocktails were even better.
Day 3
On our final full day we had a bit of a later start because of the weather. We spent the morning sipping iced coffee and eating our fresh pastries from the hotel. We both wanted to take some patriotic photos to celebrate the fourth so once the weather cleared up we headed to Cook’s Cycle shop to rent some bicycles and head to Brant Point Lighthouse! The lighthouse has a huge American Flag on the side of it and the view of the water is gorgeous from it.
We cycled around the surrounding neighborhoods for a bit and picked out all of our favorite houses we would buy in our dreams. We grabbed lunch at BACK-yard BBQ (the Nashville chicken sandwich was AMAZING) and then hit the road again! We cycled quite a few miles all while wearing our masks, we were able to breathe perfectly fine by the way.
Finally we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our final dinner on island! We walked down to the wharf to snap a few blog photos, and then headed to steps beach to visit the famous hydrangea driveway and take in the beautiful sunset. This was a bucket list photo spot for me and I still can’t event believe this moment was real life. Dinner was at Brant Point Grill and it was amazing. I may have had more wine than I should have, but it was the best way to end the trip.
Day 4
We woke up early once again packed up all of our stuff and headed out to get some iced coffee at the most raved about shop: Handle Bar Cafe. It was definitely worth the short walk and we decided to walk around for one final shopping excursion. I got the cutest mask at the Gift And Box with little embroidered bees all over it! We grabbed grilled cheeses at Stubby’s and of course couldn’t end the trip any other way than with a cone from Juice Bar. Fun fact about me I LOVE banana ice cream, but it’s so hard to find anywhere! Juice Bar hands down has the best I’ve had so far.
