I always get up early. 8 am is seriously sleeping in for me, but I still would not consider myself a morning person. No matter what time I wake up, I’m never completely awake and ready to greet the day. I do not wake up like a disney princess.
Although I’m not necessarily a morning person, I love starting the day early to make the most of it, and getting the right start to my day is key to being productive. Here is my typical morning routine:
Wakeup 6:30 am:
7 with the quarantine because I don’t have a commute anymore working from home. Like all things in my life, I HATE being surprised so i set my alarm with enough time to hit snooze twice to mentally prepare myself, and not have anxiety about being off schedule should i lay in bed for a moment or two and give myself some time to truly wake up.
Walk Bendel:
Bendel has a lot of energy, and walking her is extremely important to get the morning craziness out, especially now that I’m home with her all day. She hasn’t been able to walk as far lately because of her surgery, but we’re slowly getting there. While walking I typically listen to a podcast: my favorite is Scrubbing In with Becca Tilly & Tanya Rad.
Coffee & Shower:
Coffee: The most important meal of the day. I turn on the coffee maker and then hop in the shower. I shower every single morning even if I’m going nowhere. It’s the final step on me truly waking up and I really don’t feel ready to start the day without it.
Breakfast:
I go to bed dreaming about the coffee I’m going to drink, and the breakfast I’m going to eat in the morning. Typically I prep eggbites for the week on sunday night, or hardboiled eggs if I don’t have all the supplies. I almost always eat some type of whole grain bread and fresh fruit as well. I love to start the day full of fuel to be ready to eat. If i skimp out on breakfast, I’ll typically eat twice as much in snacks trying to make it to lunch.
Social Check:
While I eat breakfast I finally check my phone. I post on Bendel’s instagram, respond to any messages, and scroll mindlessly for a few minutes. Then I check my work email to see what the day is going to look like. At this point I actually get ready. Its pretty minimal as I lay out my clothes for the week on Sunday nights, and I rarely wear makeup to work.
Photos are from a lazy Sunday morning in my favorite new pajamas from J.Crew and my adorable Bendel mug from Dapper Paw. Hope this helps you kickstart your day! Would love to hear your morning routine.
