Well it’s day thirty something of quarantine ,and I am officially the self declared Queen of to do lists. I have hundreds of ideas to try, projects to finish, books to read, and movies to watch.
During the week I have no problem keeping busy. Truthfully the quarantine doesn’t get to me at all. I still work a 9 hour day, and I am loving working from home (check out my tips here). The weekends definitely give me time to think… and sit around, all day long.
Disclaimer: this post is in no way trying to make you feel like you should be conquering the world during quarantine. If you’re doing what you can, or doing nothing at all that is ok to. I personally do not cope well with free time. I constantly need a sense of accomplishment, and structure, and this is how I have been coping.
When all of this started I decided to make a giant list of everything I’ve always said I wanted to do “if I only had more time.” Well, now I have two full days every week with nothing to do and there is no time like the present. I made a pact with myself that I would love to accomplish at least 50% of my list by the time this is over.
From there I sprinkled in these self declared projects into daily lists. I like to think of it as a menu for the day to give myself choices to pick from, rather than trying to think of things to do, and ending up watching tv all day and scrolling instagram for hours.
I also add fun things on my to do lists, like baking banana bread, going for a bike ride, watching a movie. To do lists do not have to be all boring tasks you don’t want to do. They can be a full list of fun things, or a mixed bag. For example, I’ll add in a workout to my list, and a few rows down I’ll add make your own pizza night. It gives you a some sense of things to look forward to, and evens out your day. I may not really want to do the workout, but I know it’s only 45 minutes of my day, and I have pizza to look forward too!
I live for crossing things off of my to do lists, and nothing makes me feel better than a jam packed day. I realize not everyone is like me, but if you are, I really hope this helps you find some normalcy in all of the craziness.
If you’re new to “to-do” lists, start small. Write 3 easy things down that you’ve been meaning/wanting to do and I promise you, crossing off just one thing will make you feel so good.
Photos were taken in my room using my tripod! Bendel decided to join of course. Also note the iced coffee in the mason jar. Makes me feel fancier than I am.
Sweater is from Free People and comes in two colors: blue & cream. My earrings are from Crazy Little silk on Etsy and also come in tons of colors!
