Easter is a little different this year for most people. Sadly we did not get to get all dressed up, spend time with our extended family, and eat a delicious Easter brunch. I love this time we spend together, especially watching the little ones hunt for easter eggs… (and helping them cheat).
I decided I wanted to make the absolute most of the day, and really enjoy my time with my parents. We started the day EARLY with a bike ride to my cousins to surprise them with hidden easter eggs in their yard. We are lucky enough that they actually live in our neighborhood.
I suggested we go all out and make a brunch, and dress up as if we were going out. I wore one of my favorite Gal Meets Glam dresses, and even Bendel got dressed up in her bunny ears.
Surprisingly we had most of the supplies needed with just a few odds and ends to pick up. My mom works at a grocery store and was kind enough to get the rest of the items on our list.
I wanted to make our Easter extra special. I decided to attempt a table setting. This is not a strength of mine, and I’m sure my mother wanted to kill me as I waited until this morning to pull out every piece of tableware we own.
On the menu was eggs benedict, chocolate chip french toast, home fries, fresh fruit, and of course mimosas. The chocolate chip bread from aldi is what we used to make the french toast and it was amazing.
To quote my dad – “Jesus has risen, we’re drinking mimosas.” I am extremely lucky to spend this time with my family, and even luckier to be able to afford the luxury of making a large meal with my family. I can’t wait to have a zoom meeting with the rest of the gang later. 2020 is weird…
