Back in July, casually checking my email at work, I see something from Southern Living Magazine. I immediately think its spam, because there is absolutely no way they would be contacting me. I open the email (not spam, don’t worry) and practically jump out of my seat at work.
The amazing team at Southern Living somehow found Bendel’s account on Instagram and wanted to feature her as the dog of the month in their December issue. Naturally I responded right away that we were of course interested, probably with a ridiculous amount of exclamation marks, and patiently waited for a response.
We received more details mostly with expectations and interview questions about Bendel. These were easy to answer because she is my favorite talking topic. The team loved all of our current photos and wanted a variety to choose from. Naturally I felt the need to one up myself and take the most perfect photo ever. I mean my photography was going to be in Southern Living magazine! I climbed in the attic, grabbed the Christmas decorations, and headed to the park in the dead of summer to attempt to take a holiday photo.
It went as well as expected in 100 degree heat, but luckily she’s cute no matter what.
