Well I can officially check Louisiana off my list of states to visit. Of course the city we chose to explore was New Orleans, and I’m only a month late to writing the trip recap so I would say I’m ahead of schedule.
Whenever I travel I have about 1-2 day somewhere and I have to strategically jam pack everything I want to do into this time frame. It’s exhausting and tough cuts often have to be made.
Here’s a breakdown of my itinerary:
Arrived Friday night at midnight and ubered to our hotel a few blocks form the French quarter. Staying slightly outside of the French Quarter is cheaper and quieter, yet still in a short walking distance.
Itinerary:
- Cafe Du Monde
- Jackson Square
- St. Louis Cathedral
- Royal Street
- Lunch at Tableau
- Canal Street
- Carosel Bar
Details:
Wake up time 6:30 am – if your goal is to get ANY photos in the city you have to get there early because it gets crowded fast.
Cafe Du Monde: was our first stop. This iconic beignet shop is a calling card to Nola and is open 24/7. The line for these delicious beignets can wrap all the way around the blog so I highly recommend hitting the streets early.
Jackson Square: Located right across from Cafe Du Monde and rich tin front of the gorgeous St. Louis Cathedral. We walked around the square and took some short snaps before heading to checkout the rest of the French quarter.
Royal street: this is my street. Its one street up from Bourbon street and is practically a different world. It’s filled with adorable buildings, restaurants and shops.
Lunch: At this point of exploring you should have worked up quite the appetite. A must do for me was a meal on one of the gorgeous balconies overlooking the French Quarter. Before anyone freaks out on pricing, it is surprisingly affordable to eat with a view. We ended up at Tableau and somehow scored the corner table overlooking Jackson Square. If you love creme brue le this is the best I’ve ever had. Ever.
Canal Street: Canal street is home to more name recognition spots, an outlet mall, and of course the iconic Nola Trolleys.
Carosel Bar: End the night with drinks at the iconic Carosel bar. I sadly did not get a great photo of this one because of the crowd but it is so cool and a must see spot to end the day!
That’s it for one jam packed day in Nola! Of course we had multiple outfit changes… this was technically a working trip!
